Stefanie Varela's work goes further, with a publication studying Chronic Hepatitis B in Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, the challenges in management, and stigma related to cultural beliefs. This publication, alongside Jenny Chin, aimed to understand the stigma while studying ways to detect it early, reduce transmission, and lower the risk of hepatocellular cancer (HCC).
